Volunteering on a build site with Central Delaware Habitat can strengthen your team spirit and morale as employees from all levels of your company communicate, cooperate, and work together to get a job done. At the end of the day, team members tell us they are surprised by what they’ve learned. To those who aren’t used to swinging a hammer, the job they’ve done builds confidence. Bring your team of employees, clients, customers or members and join us for a day of building! Your company or organization provides the volunteers and a financial contribution to cover the costs of materials for the day’s build. There are many opportunities to support Central Habitat’s work through sponsor or donating to one of our many fundraising events during the year. Special events are a great way to meet other Habitat supporters, connect with the CDHFH community, increase awareness of the need for low-income housing, and raise funds that support Habitat’s mission – all while having a great time! These events also depend on generous volunteers to help organize, generous donors to underwrite costs, and participants to make the events successful. All event sponsors are recognized in signage, promotional materials, and on the website.
Nearly every Central Delaware Habitat home begins with another type of special event – a Groundbreaking or Wall-Raising ceremony which is a symbolic representation of new opportunities and hope. Dedications follow the completion of a Habitat build. The celebration of the completion of the build and the beginning of life in a new home is a very special celebration for funding and community partners, volunteers, staff and the new homeowners.
