Donate to the ReStore

Schedule your donation pickup online!

Donate gently used or new items to Central Delaware Habitat’s ReStore to clear clutter and make a difference in our community. Your donation is tax-deductible. Proceeds raised by our ReStore benefit the mission of Central Delaware Habitat for Humanity to bring people together to build affordable homes, community, and hope.

How Does Your Donation Help?

Our ReStore sells items donated by businesses and individuals in our community. Proceeds from the sales go directly to Central Delaware Habitat for Humanity and help us ensure strong and stable families and communities. By repurposing furniture, appliances, and building materials, our ReStore actively helps reduce area landfill waste each year. That benefits us all!

What Can You Donate?

We accept new and gently used appliances, furniture, building materials, household goods, and more from individuals and companies.

There are certain items (e.g. clothing, mattresses, hot water heaters, faucets, stained or torn upholstered furniture, etc.) that we cannot accept due to state and local health regulations.

Our ReStore is unique and we only accept what we can sell. If you wouldn’t buy the item in its current condition, we probably cannot sell it and will not accept it. A good rule of thumb is, if you wouldn’t give it to a friend or family member, please do not donate it. We do not refurbish items, we only test and sanitize them.

For a complete list of what we can and cannot accept, please click the button below to view our list of Acceptable Donation Items.

Please Note: We only accept what we can sell! We do not repair broken items, so please do not donate items that are broken or do not work! Please understand that our dumpsters represent a significant cost and are for Central Delaware Habitat’s ReStore use only. Regretfully, we cannot accommodate requests to throw away items that we are unable to accept as donations.

How Do You Donate?

Our Central Delaware Habitat ReStore staff and volunteers make the donation process as simple as possible. You can always donate goods in person. We also offer free pick-up of large items. Note that donation hours differ from store hours! Please do not leave your donated items after hours!

Drop-Off / In Person

When dropping off a donation, please pull up to the loading dock at the right side of the building. We have staff and volunteers available to help you unload.

Donation Drop-Off / Item Pickup Hours

  • Monday: 10:00 AM – 1:30 PM
  • Tuesday-Friday: 10:00 AM – 4:30 PM
  • Saturday: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Please Note: Do not leave items in our parking lot after hours. This is not only illegal activity, but Habitat often has to incur the expense to haul the items away. When items are left out in the elements, regardless of the condition they are in when they arrive, they are often ruined and not resalable. Since the purpose of the ReStore is to raise funds for CDHFH to build affordable housing in Kent County, we must be good stewards of those funds. So while you may think you are helping us, you may actually be costing us money. You will have two business days to pickup your items or they will be returned to the floor.

Pick Up Service

We provide a limited, FREE pick-up service for large donations in Kent County, Delaware. We schedule donation pickups Tuesday-Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m All items for pickup must be on the first floor, in a driveway, or garage. For business pick-ups, please contact our ReStore to coordinate.

Our pick-up schedule is typically two to three weeks out. Please plan accordingly.

If you have questions about your donation or scheduled pickup, please do not call the CDHFH business office. Those are the folks busy building houses and helping families! Please contact the Central Delaware Habitat for Humanity ReStore directly at 302-346-0220.

Your donation is tax-deductible. Once your donation has been received, you will receive a receipt of your donation which may be used for tax purposes.

Please Note: Item acceptability is at the discretion of the driver and the ReStore staff. Drivers and staff reserve the right to refuse donations based on condition, location, or size. Drivers will not enter your home if your pet is not properly secured.
