Tanya and Klise are a dynamic mother-daughter duo who are working hard on their sweat equity to be able to purchase their own home. Tanya works as a program assistant with an Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team, and Klise is a freshman in high school. Both are very active in their church and enjoy volunteering there as well as with Central Delaware Habitat. After they moved here from New York in 2020, it was a member of their church family (and Central Delaware Habitat homeowner) who told them about Central Delaware Habitat’s homeownership program. At the time, Tanya was scrambling to pay over half of her monthly income for rent on their small apartment and applied twice before being accepted as a partner family.
They both love the homeownership program because it gives them the opportunity to help others and to build their own home. They look forward to “seeing the families smile,” when they work with other homeowners, and having a safe and stable home of their own.
