When people think about Habitat for Humanity, they usually picture volunteers building homes. What many don’t realize is that our ReStore plays a critical role in making that work possible.
The Habitat ReStore is much more than a home improvement resale store. It’s a place where generosity and sustainability meet to fuel our mission. Every donated cabinet, appliance, piece of furniture, and building material helps generate revenue that supports affordable housing right here in Central Delaware.
Last year alone, our ReStore sold more than $563,000 in donated merchandise, helping fund the programs that build homes and repair existing ones for families in our community. Just as importantly, the store diverted more than 733,000 pounds of material from the landfill, proving that the ReStore is not only good for our mission, but good for our environment as well.
Behind those numbers are donors who choose to give items a second life, shoppers who enjoy finding great deals, and volunteers who give their time to keep the store running. Each of them plays a part in strengthening neighborhoods and expanding access to safe, affordable housing.
If you’ve never visited the ReStore, I encourage you to stop by. You might find exactly what you need for your next project—and in the process, help build something much bigger than a home.
With gratitude,
Tim Bailey
CEO, Central Delaware Habitat for Humanity
