The Application Process

Habitat Home Construction

1. You will need to complete the eligibility form above. Our Qualified Loan Officer (QLO) will call you to ask you for additional information.

2. The application document includes a list of supporting documents that prove your income, assets, and mortgage readiness (Ability to Pay, Willingness to Partner, and Need of Shelter). Applications are only accepted during the open cycle. You will need to return the completed application and all supporting documents to be considered during the current open cycle.

3. A combination of your income and your creditworthiness determines your ability to pay an affordable mortgage. After our QLO verifies your income, you will be asked to pay a $26 credit report fee ($52 for co-applicants).

4. Your need for affordable housing is determined by several factors. Once your ability to pay has been verified with your credit report, our staff and volunteers will visit you and your family in your home for an in-person interview.

5. Your willingness to partner with Central Delaware Habitat for Humanity is demonstrated by you and your family before, during, and after the application process. Our organization’s expectations of a good partner are defined below.

6. Make sure you meet all the requirements before applying, have all your supporting documentation on hand, and respond in a timely fashion to help make the process go smoothly and quickly.
