February Board Member Spotlight: Jessica Jackson

Jessica Jackson, Senior Branch Manager for M&T Bank

Why did you decide to join the CDHFH board?
My passion has always been to give back to the community and try to leave just a small mark on our world. With CDHFH we don’t just help people have a safe place to live, we help open a brand-new chapter for many of the future world changers out there.

What has it meant to you to be a member of the CDHFH Board?
Like all the bad in the world can be outweighed by a little good.

What is happening at CDHFH right now that you are most excited about?
Wow, that is a loaded question. I think it’s between the Neighborhood Revitalization program and the repair program. Slowly making a larger positive impact on our community, trying to make it better and safer one small project at a time.

What committee(s) do you serve on, if any?
I serve and head the Development Committee. Where we focus on ways to bring awareness and donations into the organization while making meaningful relationships with community leaders and businesses.

What is something we might be surprised to know about you?
That I show dogs in my spare time (when I am not at a sporting event for one of my boys). I grew up showing dogs until I was 17 and then thanks to switching careers got to start showing dogs again two years ago.

Who has been an influential person in your life and why?
While I have lucked out to have many influential people in my life there is one person who will always stand out. Her name is Stephanie Edwards and she once was my store manager at Walmart. She came into my life at a point that I was very lost and honestly a little immature. She saw something in me that still to this day I don’t see and she helped me become an amazing leader, woman and mother.

Tell us about yourself:  I was born and raised in Staunton, Virginia and then ended up in Delaware for my senior year of high school and well I never left. I have run several multimillion-dollar big box retailers over the course of my 17 years in the workforce and decided after COVID it was time to slow down and enjoy life a little more. I am married to an amazing man who I share four wonderful children with (bonus son’s 17 and 13, son 11 and daughter 2 months). We run our own youth flag football league through NFL for going on 8 years and my spare time outside of Habitat and work is typically spent at football or basketball events.
